Our Team

Kristen Hendry, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in West Los Angeles, providing in-person sessions in Culver City as well as virtual therapy through a secure Telehealth platform. My clinical work is grounded in the belief that healing begins in a space where clients feel safe to show up exactly as they are. I support individuals, adolescents, and families in navigating challenges related to eating disorders, body image, identity development, and relational dynamics.

My approach is integrative, drawing from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Bowen Family Systems Theory. I tailor each treatment plan to the unique needs of the individual, understanding that no single approach fits all. My academic and clinical interest in family systems theory has been a consistent throughline in my work; my master’s thesis explored the application of multiple family systems frameworks in the treatment of eating disorders.

I practice through a feminist and intersectional lens, recognizing the impact of sociocultural systems on mental health and identity. I collaborate with clients to unpack how intersecting identities and systemic pressures shape their experiences, with an emphasis on restoring agency and self-compassion.

Outside of the therapy room, I find joy in rollerblading, browsing flea markets for vintage finds, reading, and spending time outdoors with my dog, Della. A few of my favorite books include Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed and Heaven by Emerson Whitney.

Founder & Clinical director of Alight Therapy

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Encinitas, California, and the founder and clinical director of Alight Therapy, a group practice serving clients across San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. I reside in South Orange County and maintain a physical office in Encinitas, allowing me to serve a broad regional client base. My clinical specializations include the treatment of eating disorders, adolescent and family therapy, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and the support of college students and emerging adults navigating complex developmental transitions.

In 2025, I co-founded the Orange County Eating Disorder Collective—a multidisciplinary consortium of therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, and dietitians dedicated to advancing integrative, inclusive, and evidence-informed care. This work reflects my broader commitment to clinical excellence, provider accountability, and systemic reform in the mental health field.

My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in systems theory. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Bowen Family Systems Theory, applying these frameworks through a weight-inclusive, culturally responsive, and socially just lens.

I bring over a decade of clinical experience across all levels of care, including inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings. My practice is supported by ongoing consultation and advanced training, including a two-year intensive in Bowen Theory and membership in the Ample & Rooted Community.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community with lived experience in eating disorder recovery, I approach therapy with authenticity, empathy, and deep respect for the complexity of healing. I’m passionate about creating affirming spaces for individuals of all body sizes, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

Outside of my clinical work, I find joy in watching soccer (Go Wave & USWNT!), exploring Southern California, and listening to Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and the Wicked movie soundtrack. Recent reads I’ve loved include He/She/They: How We Talk About Gender and Why It Matters by Schuyler Bailar and The Measure by Nikki Erlick.

I offer in-person sessions in Encinitas and virtual therapy to clients throughout California.
